Hong Min-gyu threw 40 pitches in his first bullpen session at the team's spring camp in Sydney, Australia, on the 28th.
In addition to his fastball, Hong Min-gyu checked various balls such as curves, sliders, and changeups.
Hong Min-gyu graduated from Yatap High School and joined Doosan after receiving 26 nominations in the third round of the 2025 KBO Rookie Draft.
After joining the team, he joined the Icheon closing camp with good reviews during rookie training, and showed his potential here as well, making him the only rookie pitcher on the Australian spring camp list.
At the time of his nomination, the Doosan Scouts said of Hong Min-gyu, "He is a pitcher with stable mechanism and pitching motion, and he has stable control of both fast and breaking balls. If he strengthens his physical condition, he could increase his skills."
Doosan manager Lee Seung-yeop, who watched Hong Min-gyu's bullpen pitching, said, "As a rookie, I would have been nervous to pitch in front of my coaches and seniors, but I think he showed a better-than-expected pitching. I hope he continues his bold pitching throughout the camp without overdoing it."
"He showed stable pitching in his first bullpen session as well. It's good if you look at it interestingly," pitching coach Park Jung-bae said. "I pitched well in the closing camp to join the spring camp, but he pitched well again this time."
Hong Min-gyu looked back on his first bullpen pitching, saying, "Both the fastball and breaking ball went where I wanted to go. Ryu Hyun-joon, a senior (catcher) who received the ball, saved his energy in the middle and threw it in a fun way."
"Kim Taek-yeon taught me everything from the departure and took good care of me," he said. "My brothers helped me to relieve my tension and adapt. My goal is to focus on what's in front of me and go to the Miyazaki camp without getting hurt in the Sydney camp."
